Helen Oliver


In 1991, Helen worked as part of a regional NSW Community Health Team, primarily as an Adolescent Psychologist, also being attached to the Adult Mental Health Team.

In 1993, Helen opened her private practice, working in the Lismore and Tweed Heads areas.

During this time, Helen was contracted to the Commonwealth Employment Services and Centrelink for Psychological Assessments of clients and giving treatment when appropriate.

In addition, Helen undertook generalist psychological counselling, and treated clients for psychological injuries and pain management resulting from Workcover injuries and motor vehicle and other accidents.

Helen is trained in Chronic Pain Management and worked in a specific program in a hospital rehabilitation environment.

In 1994, Helen was one of the initial NSW Victims of Crime Counsellors. She continued in this capacity until relocating to Queensland in 2017.

Helen was also contracted by an Employee Assistance Provider for many government departments and private organisations for several years.

vSince 2000, counselling under the Medicare Mental Health Plan Scheme has been a work interest for Helen due to its availability and affordability for clients from all backgrounds.

Helen’s current areas of interest are in treating clients with depression, anxiety and trauma, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, her main area of expertise.

She also treats clients with chronic pain and associated life issues.

Her treatment modalities include (CBT) Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, mindfulness and the use of relaxation and stress management techniques.

She is also a highly experienced EMDR and EFT practitioner.
